The Polo House draws its character from the storied tradition of California polo, a heritage of horses, open land, and easy elegance that still defines the Santa Ynez Valley today.

Santa Ynez was established as “The New Town,” a stagecoach stop that to this day retains its historical western flavor, with some of its original storefronts still intact.
The College Hotel was once the town’s main lodging establishment, complete with Victorian design and sixteen roof turrets that crowned the Santa Ynez skyline.
Edna Raymond married Elza Craig in 1908. Elza ran the town’s barber shop and meeting hall, anchoring daily life in early Santa Ynez.
Edna Craig played piano and became the town’s second librarian in 1929, a position she served in until 1961, shaping a generation of the community.
The Craig home remained one of the oldest houses in Santa Ynez until its destruction by fire in 1962. Its spirit endures in the estate that carries the story forward.
