Los Olivos for the tasting rooms. A fourteen-key hotel in Santa Ynez for the evening after.
From Grand Avenue, Highway 154 runs a few miles through oaks and open pasture and ends quietly on Edison Street. On tasting days, our concierge arranges a driver.
Los Olivos is a village of tasting rooms, a few blocks long and best taken slowly. Santa Ynez is where the day settles: a walk to dinner, a fire in the garden, a quiet street at night.
Six places we send our guests, from the tasting rooms on Grand Avenue to the estates along Foxen Canyon.
7 min drive
Carhartt’s small tasting room and garden patio, with Saarloos and Sons a few doors down. The whole village is walkable.
8 min drive
Oysters and coastal plates from the team behind Bell’s, on Alamo Pintado Avenue. Worth reserving ahead.
8 min drive
Biodynamic vineyards and picnic gazebos beside a quiet pond. Bring bread and cheese from the village.
16 min drive
The first estate winery in Santa Barbara County, with a hillside view over the vines on Zaca Station Road.
17 min drive
A long lawn under the oaks and a tasting room at the start of the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail.
21 min drive
One of the valley’s first wineries, high on Foxen Canyon, and one of our concierge’s partner estates.
Also in Los Olivos: dinner at Mattei’s Tavern, a stagecoach stop since 1886, and the lavender fields at Clairmont Farms, in bloom from mid-June to late July. See every experience on our Activities page.

Upstairs in the main house on Edison Street, each with its own character.

Los Olivos
Dinner in the village, then home along the 154 in under ten minutes.
Los Olivos
A slow breakfast and an hour in the cedar barrel sauna, then one last estate on Foxen Canyon Road before the drive home.
Foxen CanyonAbout 7 minutes by car, or 4.7 miles from Grand Avenue in Los Olivos, down Highway 154 to Edison Street. We are at 1121 Edison Street and 3523 Sagunto Street in Santa Ynez.
Santa Ynez Valley Transit runs a Los Olivos Loop on weekdays only, with no service on weekends, when most visitors come to taste. Rideshare cars are scarce, especially after dark. For a tasting day, our concierge can book a local driver or a wine tour that picks you up at the hotel.
Spring brings green hills and bud break, and harvest, from late August into October, is the busiest season. The Jazz and Olive Festival fills the town each June, and Clairmont Farms’ lavender blooms from mid-June to late July. For calmer tasting rooms, come midweek. See our midweek stays.
